JOHN WILLIAMS was music
director of the Boston Pops Orchestra
for 14 seasons and composed the Tuba Concerto for their 100th
anniversary.
The Concerto was premiered by the principal tuba player, Chester Schmitz,
to whom it is dedicated, on May 8 1985 with the composer conducting.
